Week 42

Hello family! Here are some pictures from my week.

Me and Elder Strebel on exchanges
"#Chefing-up" a picture Elder Higley took because he got called out in the chat. In our zone chats we keep it active by sending in a picture of whatever you are doing and you then do "@_____" an Elder or Sister and that happened to Elder Higley
I made a groundbreaking discovery this week! Apparently, palmtrees need to be pollinated by bees to make the seeds! I thought it was just wind pollinated. It doesn't surprise me though since palmtrees are technically weeds. It makes sense.
Pretty flowers.
A cool field.
This was really cool! I found this on the counter in the bathroom at the church.
More pretty flowers.
A cool walkway in the old part of town.
And...... what kind of apocalyptic delivery truck... is that?

Week 41

There isn’t really a lot of pictures this week but it has been a good week!
This is former Elder Kivalu. We had dinner with him at Denny's.
I got an awsome farm picture at the bottom of our zone on the way back from my District leader training in Riverside.
Flower picture
The entire two zones at President Freeman's house for the zone breakfast. Rather than have everyone move, Sister Freeman decided just to do a panorama. If you look carefully, you can see a duplicate of an Elder. Look to the right of me and then on the stairs at the left. That is Elder Widdison. He is the most lovable and hilarious Elder you will find. He was in my zone before and I am so happy that he is back!
This is one of the leftover dishes that was served at the breakfast.

Week 39

This is what we made for dinner. It was really good!
At one point there was four huskies peeking their heads under the garage door. It was funny to watch their face jump a little as they all barked at us.
This... is a restaurant

I haven't seen one of these in a really long time!
Elder Higley and myself.

We were talking to the owner of this car and he said that a tree branch randomly fell on it (there wasn't any storm or even wind. The branch just fell). Since it was on the street the city is paying for the repairs.
I found the Mr. Incredible's daily driver.
Train tracks.
Elder Higley thought this was funny and so we took a picture of it.
More pictures of me and Elder Higley.

Circle K stop
Us at a service.
These are parts used for raised floors for servers.

A super gentle and friendly dog we met. We were just walking by and all of a sudden it appeared. It didn't bark at all. It just stood there waiting to be pet. It was so cute and when I pet it the dog kind of bumped my hand with it's nose. It was so mellow and calm.
This was someone I used to teach back in another area and we stayed in contact. He came by to visit bought us breakfast.
Do you remember how I said that plants out here aren't house plants? Well, this is a pepper bush NOT plant! A literal bush!

Same with the succulents (this is one that I have).

This week we got some cloud cover which makes for beautiful sunsets but also too many pictures. Hehehe
Moss

Sunsets.

Canna lilies

This is what we did for our zone activity today. (I got 3rd place.)

Brunch
THIS is probably the best picture I have gotten on the mission.
Oliver the plant died. I forgot to water him for a few days and he probably needed some nutrients. BUT, it's okay because I found some more of that plant in some moss. Now it's not the same as the one I found in the MTC but I still have that kind of plant.

Week 37

We had a baptism this week! Beyond that there wasn’t really a lot that happened this week.
Here is my unsalted, under raised rolls I made... we didn't have salt and I didn't let them rise long enough but they still tasted pretty good.
Nature section.

Herbie
This is what happens when Elder O'Neal gets board and wants to play a prank on his companion who is on exchanges.

Now we left it and made it a game. So when ever you open it the wrong way (or regular way) you have to mark it down.
We had a pass off lesson with the Tongan Sisters.

Week 36

This week has honestly been very slow as far as the work but we have been getting along pretty good. Not much luck in finding people to teach.
I don't know what this thing is but I want one!
I don't know if this is what you call your typical monster truck but...
...I did find one that is close. Yet again another ridiculously over sized truck. I don't even understand how they get in.
Apparently here in California they don't just grow citrus trees but they literally use them for landscaping. It saves space and it still grows a ton of produce and it looks kind of cool!
Someone has a really cool car!
This is literally the world's nicest dog ever. We have had to actually pass through this area a couple of times and each time we do she is there waiting for us to pet her. This is always a highlight for me when we are on this street, being the animal lover that I am.
Stopped by the train
This is Elder O'Neal's homemade belt. He got it off of a 1980's Jayco RV. He literally uses it as a belt. Elder O'Neal loved my Utility Pack when I showed it to him after the second day. He literally said "okay, we can be friends now!" It was funny. He also knows A LOT about cars and it turns out that his personal car back is the older version of the green car. His car is a 1980's Mazda 626. Exactly the kind we have just a little older. Elder O'Neal and I get along probably the best out of the entire apartment.
Bus getting a tow.
.. pretty self explanatory. MOVING ON!
I found this at a yard sale. In this area, there is only one weekend every three months that you can legally do yard sales so all of the sudden we start seeing a ton of yard sales on every block. We learned that as we helped one of them move some of their stuff.
Across that street... is the end of the mission. As some missionaries have said standing by the border, "there is only an invisible line stopping me from crossing this point". In this case it is the street.
This is probably the BEST picture I have gotten on the mission!
Palm tree..
On the road

Week 34

This week is transfers and Elder Hoag is going home this week also.
This is picture of us in a lesson.
This is my zone. Half of the Elders are going home this transfer so this is their last day.
This is... a... really big... truck! The camera angle is kind of funky but that is because he did it in 0.5. The truck is actually this big! There is a reason they don't park it in the garage!
We actually have clouds!!!
Our car is leaking!!!! We are going to get it fixed today.
We had dinner with Bishop and Sister Curtis! They are awesome and they took us to Farmer Boys. The burgers were good.
Kind of foggy morning

This is what I call "Palmtree lane" supposedly each tree costs $10,000 or so each. Soooo... that is a lot of money behind me
I'm not much of a meat person but Brother Burton made us some really good ribs! It was such a good day on Saturday!
Elder Hoag's last dinner in the mission with his favorite member.
