Week 7

Monday.
I talked with family. We went to the church to do some things on the computers. I got to play on the organ! I was able to play the whole right hand part of “God be with you till we meet again” without too much trouble. I learned how the organ works.

Another Awesome Sunset
Tuesday.
Had Mission council meeting with a surprise. Sister Hendrickson came to give a special presentation and President Hendrickson came with her. It was so awesome! I had a exchange with Élder Farr. He went with me in my area. I led out. We ran into 3 Spanish speakers and so we put Élder Farr’s Spanish to use. Oddly enough I have only had one or two people whose door we knocked on that spoke Spanish in the month I have been here. But with Élder Farr, we end up running into three Spanish people in one day.

Wednesday
This picture really looks like a painting! (One of my most favorite pictures I have taken so far.)
Our lesson with Linda got canceled. We met a guy while knocking doors. He gave me a brand-new New American standard Bible.

Owl
Thursday.
Saw another owl. It was big too! (About 12 to 16 inches tall I think)
Friday.
We knocked a lot of doors and did stop by’s. We had dinner with the Arscotts.

Lantana flowers
Saturday.
Did some service for an older lady. Me and Elder Higley got to prune back the grapfruit tree. I learned that grapefruit trees have thorns by the leaves. We also trimmed back her lantana flowers.
We had apartment inspections and we got thrid place out of the five apartments. So we did quite well! We got transfer news and I am staying here a second transfer. My new companion is Elder Barringer. We hit it off quite well.

Oliver when I got to California.
Oliver - 1 month later
And…My plant I brought with me on the plane. :)
I asked my family to name it. They named him Oliver. (because of the parable of the olive tree in the Book of Mormon, Jacob 5 - One of my favorites) (The name Oliver means “olive tree or olive branch”.)

Sunday
We went to church and had Dave come with us after 4 months of teaching!!! We went out and had a great lesson with the Feddocks! We had dinner with the Waltons.

This week has had some small and simple miracles here and there. I have learned some much thus far and become more confident in my teaching and in my abilities.
I love you all!
God loves you!

Sincerely…
-Elder Ian Shaw.

Happy Birthday Devin!
Love you Devin!
Love you Mom and Dad!
